An Invitation to Strike: This Tuesday

Charlotte is three days away from officially being awarded the 30th MLS franchise.
Go ahead and pinch yourself and then say it again, even out loud if you’d like, because this is real.
When we started working together this summer to lay the foundation for the Mint City Collective, there was so much work to be done before a Charlotte team became a reality. We were confident that the leaders of the ownership group had the right vision and the wherewithal to make it happen, and that ultimately the process would take care of itself. But now that we’re literally three days away from hearing it out of Don Garber’s mouth, I can’t help but to feel goosebumps. They did it. We did it. And YOU most definitely did it!
Think about all that you have done.
Mint City Collective is now well over 500 members. Over 500 of you made the commitment to support the idea of a team and to join the Mint City Collective even before that team is announced. Over 500 of you are ready to represent this team and the MCC from 16 different states and four different countries. Over 500 of you are Day Zero Originals!
That is incredibly cool! And now we get to celebrate.
Our first official event as a Collective is this Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at Hooligans (more details are available in the Members Slack). There are over 200 people currently registered to attend, four different media outlets have requested to participate, and there is a rumor that some very important people involved in bringing the team to the city will be stopping by to shake some hands and take some selfies.
All because of you.
Not many people are able to say that they were able to create and shape the supporter culture for their soon-to-be favorite soccer team from the very beginning, and that’s exactly what you are going to do. Your commitment, your trust, and your support is going to allow you to leave your personal stamp on the 30th MLS franchise. Amazing!
It’s exciting to see all that you have done in such a short period of time. I’m personally very proud to be a part of it. And I can’t wait to celebrate with you all in person on Tuesday, talk more about names, colors, and future players, and figure out how we’re going to continue building all of this together.
